Clinical Counseling Solutions

The challenges of dealing with stress and conflict are the source of many personal, family and work-related problems and can result in conditions requiring clinical intervention.  Effective clinical counseling can be the key to problem resolution, personal growth, improved relationships and a general sense of well-being.

I am a licensed clinical counselor with supervisory credentials in the state of Ohio.  I provide clinical counseling services for individuals with a primary focus on the treatment of depression, anxiety and adult ADD/ADHD.  Clinical counseling approaches include cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy.

Clinical counseling that is paid by insurance is driven by the medical model and requires a diagnosis which then must be the focus of treatment.  Individuals who do not want to have a mental health diagnosis in their record or who want to explore concerns that do not fit a diagnosis may receive services on a self-pay basis.

I use positive psychology as the basis of my work as developed by Martin Seligman and others at the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania (www.ppc.sas.upenn.edu/).  Strategies and techniques used to manage stress, anger, anxiety and depression incorporate techniques developed by the Institute of HeartMath (http://www.heartmath.org/) including use of "Inner Balance" biofeedback. Solution-focused and stress management techniques are helpful with individuals who are diagnosed with adult ADD/ADHD.

I am able to meet with clients at 8:00 in the morning and in the late afternoon/evening until 8:00 p.m. which is optimal for individuals with busy work schedules.

Fees and Insurance for Clinical Counseling

I accept the rates paid by insurance companies for clients covered by insurance.  For non-insured clients the standard fee is $120 per one hour session for clinical counseling.  I do offer a sliding fee, upon request, with a minimum rate of $80 per hour.

Insurance:  I can accept insurance for clinical counseling services that are covered by Anthem Blue Cross - Blue Shield or Medical Mutual Insurance.  I will also be able to accept United Health Care - Optum insurance in February 2018.

Health Savings Accounts:  Clients may use their Health Savings Account (HSA) as a means of utilizing their insurance.  Coaching and relationship counseling are typically not reimbursable by insurance but may be paid with a Health Savings Account in most cases.  Please consult your insurance carrier for questions.

Reduced Fee:  Reduced fee services are available upon request based on family income.  Minimum fees are $80 per hour for coaching and counseling.

Payment:  Cash, check, PayPal and all major credit cards accepted for payment.  Clients may also choose to use their Health Savings Account card if they have this method available.

Cancellation Policy:  If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay an $80 cost for the session.
